| Abstract | The Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir is the paradise on earth and is the northern most part of India. It has unity in diversity as it bears multiple culture,ethnic communities and tribes . This study has analysed the social status and economy of gujjar and bakarwals tribes of jammmu and Kashmir. The study has revealed that gujjar and bakarwals of jammu and Kashmir are deprived and underprivileged. However due to continuous efforts of Department of tribal affairs government of Jammu and Kashmir and the broad vision of centre government for tribals has lead to a significant improvement in the lives of tribals of Jammu and Kashmir. |
