Influence of Phubbing, Fear of Missing Out on Depression, Anxiety and Stress among Generation Z Population

Abstract The aim of the study was to assess the relationship between the variables phubbing, fomo, depression, anxiety and stress among the generation z population. The study also analyses the predictivity of variables phubbing and fomo on depression, anxiety and stress. Participants were given Personal information schedule, Phubbing Scale, fomo scale, DASS-21 for the purpose of study. The Phubbing scale was developed to assess the phubbing. The results found that there is a significant relationship with all the study variables. The results revealed only fomo predicts depression, anxiety and stress while phubbing predicts depression and stress. The results showed no influence of gender on the study variables. The area of living of the participants also didn’t impact the study variables. The findings from the study can help individuals to identify their specific behaviour pattern so that they can seek support from individuals or organizations. So that the upcoming generation of the society will not be tangled in the disturbance of the virtual world, also the new age gadgets can be used wisely to utilise its opportunity to grow and develop.
