Abstract The need for training and development has been recognized by the top management to improve employee performance and job satisfaction. Training seems to be a factor in improving the workforce's capacity to meet organizational goals. Thus, effective training initiatives lead to the development of the employee and aims for the attainment of objectives in the organisation. This paper explores the impact of training and development, its pros and cons and the recent trends in training and development.
