Abstract This research paper examines the various transformations that womanhood has experienced across different ages, using the renowned Tamil work, Silappatikaram, penned by Ilango Adigal, as a focal point. The epic explores the journey of the protagonist, Kannagi, along with other minor characters, highlighting their evolution from self-neglect to self-assurance. This paper aims to provide an insightful analysis of these changes and their implications for the status of women in Indian society.
