Abstract | What is the impact of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives in mitigating corporate liability? Tracing the historical trajectory of CSR and its integration into corporate frameworks shows a dynamic movement influenced by society expectations as well as corporate incentives. This study assesses the degree to which companies with well-established CSR programs face lower legal and reputational risks in comparison to companies without such initiatives. Through case studies and empirical analysis, the study examines the effectiveness of CSR strategies in risk mitigation, highlighting the role of stakeholder engagement. Presenting a comprehensive knowledge of how CSR practices assist firms in mitigating legal, ethical, and reputational concerns is the study's main objective. By delving into the Indian corporate landscape, it corroborates previous findings by demonstrating a favorable association between CSR and firm performance. It contributes to the existing body of knowledge by providing a thorough and comparative analysis that elucidates the potential benefits of CSR in handling legal and reputational issues that corporations may encounter. It seeks to examine the role of government in supporting CSR activities. It addresses the challenges and issues that corporations face when implementing CSR initiatives, offering effective ways to overcome these obstacles. Emphasizing CSR as more than a charitable endeavor, the study positions it as a strategic imperative for companies aiming to navigate the challenging landscape of corporate liability while fostering societal welfare. Overall, this research aims to deepen understanding of the symbiotic relationship between CSR and corporate liability, offering insights for policymakers, corporate leaders, and scholars to bolster ethical and sustainable business practices. |
