Abstract The adulteration of opioids presents a significant public health and forensic challenge This study has been undertaken to investigate the fatal adulterants present in illicit opioids. To review different analytical techniques and public health responses for the emerging novel synthetic opioids (NSO). The paper also focuses on the research gaps in the current scenario in screening and analyzing of various synthetic analogs.
