Abstract | The Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) is an innovative tool designed to assess clinical competence in a structured and objective manner, particularly for pre- and para-clinical subjects. This study aimed to evaluate the knowledge and attitude of undergraduate (UG) nursing tutors toward OSCE, assess the effectiveness of a planned teaching program (PTP), explore the relationship between knowledge and attitude, and identify associations with demographic variables. A total of 56 UG nursing tutors from selected colleges in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, participated, with data collected using purposive sampling. Pre- and post-tests were conducted using a structured questionnaire and a 5-point Likert scale, with the PTP delivered through a lecture-cum-discussion using a PowerPoint presentation. Results revealed a significant improvement in post-test knowledge and attitude scores. In the pre-test, 64.29% of participants had inadequate knowledge, which improved to 50% showing adequate knowledge post-intervention. Similarly, attitudes shifted positively, with unfavorable attitudes dropping from 76.79% to 25% after the intervention. A weak correlation was found between knowledge and attitude, with age being the only demographic variable showing a significant association. The findings suggest that the PTP effectively enhanced the understanding and perception of OSCE among UG nursing tutors, highlighting its relevance in real-life clinical assessments. |
