Abstract | Digital literacy has become an essential skill in the 21st century, shaping the way individuals access, understand, and utilize information in an increasingly digitalized world. Digital learning has emerged as a transformative force in the contemporary educational landscape, especially for underserved and marginalized populations. In the context of Jharkhand—a state with a significant tribal population—digital education holds immense potential for addressing deep-rooted gender disparities and fostering socio-economic inclusion. This paper critically examines the role of digital learning in the empowerment of women in tribal societies of Jharkhand. For women in these communities, digital literacy is not only a tool for personal empowerment but also a gateway to improved educational outcomes, enhanced livelihood opportunities, and increased participation in civic life. It explores the intersection of gender, technology, and education by analysing the impact of various government-led and non-governmental digital initiatives aimed at improving access to quality education for tribal women. The study draws on field observations, secondary data, and case studies to evaluate the extent to which digital tools have influenced women's educational attainment, digital literacy, skill development, and economic participation. It also addresses persistent challenges such as infrastructural limitations, socio-cultural barriers, digital illiteracy, and lack of localized content. The findings underscore the importance of culturally sensitive, community-driven approaches in the design and implementation of digital learning platforms. The paper concludes with the enhancement of digital inclusion and promote gender-equitable development in tribal regions. |
