Role of Impression Management: Career Commitment and Subjective Career Success

| Abstract | The study attempts to understand the underlying mechanism for strengthening employee performance and subjective career success of employees. Pre-existing questionnaire for data collection through convenience sampling was used in the study. Data were collected from a total of 326 employees working in service industry such as banking, information technology and insurance industry functioning in India. The study used structural equation modelling for analysis of the data. The result of the study shows a significant and positive relationship between employee performance and subjective career success of employees. The result also shows an essential role played by impression management for strengthening the relationship between employee performance and subjective career success of employees. The study attempts to understand the importance of employee career commitment that supports employee subjective career success with the moderating impact of impression management that have seemingly not been researched. |
