Women and Child Welfare Schemes in India

Abstract This study explores the protection and promotion of women empowerment through the lens of maternity benefits and welfare schemes in India. It conveys particularly on government initiatives such as the Maternity Benefit Act, 1961 (as amended in 2017), Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY), and the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS), which aim to safeguard the health, employment, and financial security of women during the maternity period.
