Abstract | The 21st century presents unprecedented challenges and opportunities for reimaginingcriminal justice systems globally. Traditional models, often characterized by punitiveapproaches and high rates of incarceration, face increasing scrutiny for their effectiveness, cost, and human impact. This paper explores potential reforms aimed at creating a moreeffective and humane criminal justice system. It delves into key areas such as preventativemeasures, alternatives to incarceration, restorative justice practices, the integration oftechnology, and the crucial need for addressing systemic biases and promotingrehabilitation. By examining these potential reforms, this paper argues for a paradigm shifttowards a justice system that prioritizes prevention, rehabilitation3, and the restoration ofcommunities, ultimately leading to safer and more just societies. |
