Abstract | The purpose of the research paper is to address the impact of increasing trends of using social media on young adult's mental health and socialisation. This paper address the benefits of social media along with negative impacts. Which includes Access to Resources, creativity and self expression. While negative impacts includes increasing level of depression, anxiety level and even suicidal rate, difficulty in face to face interaction and communication. This paper suggests strategies to combat the negative impact of social media. That is to practice mindful usages, limit screen time, promote digital literacy, mental health alert. Apart from these Encouraging offline activities and meaningful engagement such as sports, arts, and community activities can be beneficial to overcome the ill effects of social media. |
