| Abstract | Biology is one of the science subject taught at the senior secondary school level and is the basic science subject offered by almost every student in senior secondary school. Practical activities stimulate creativity, curiosity and critical thinking among the students to learn knowledge and principles of biology. It also enhances and encourages active learning and problem-solving in collaboration with peer groups. Biology is introduced to students at senior secondary school level as a preparatory ground for human development, where career abilities are groomed, and potentials and talents discovered and energized. To draw more light on the role and potential for the laboratory in science instruction, the study reported here was initiated to gain baseline information about teacher perceptions of the laboratory both from the perspective of the continuing and traditional goals for instruction and from the perspective of the exemplary practice in laboratory instruction. For this study the perception of both teacher and student were collected through research questions in a survey of one Government school and one Public school in Ajmer, Rajasthan. The collected data were analyzed and discussed. Due to unavailability of time, the teacher can’t able to give more emphasis on practical work. In the hurry to complete the syllabus within limited time, the teacher doesn’t give emphasis on proper understanding of practical rather only giving stress on obtaining the positive result of practical, thus cause lack of interest and curiosity of students towards practical. |
