The Challenge of AI in Alleviating the Shortage of Loss Adjusters in the Insurance Industry

Abstract | The insurance industry is in the grip of a shortage of loss adjusters, the individuals who assess, investigate, and settle claims. This shortage is leading to delays and customer dissatisfaction. This is where AI could come in handy—it could take over some of the tasks that loss adjusters usually carry out, including checking claims and inspecting damage. This work looks at how AI can assist loss adjusters and expedite the claims process. It also explores the challenges of using AI, such as privacy issues and the need for fairness. Taking a close look at the current trend and industry examples, this paper highlights the role of AI in decreasing the load on human loss adjusters while facilitating the claims process within the insurance sector. |
