India's Diplomacy in a Multipolar World: Analysing 'Issue-based Coalitions'

Author(s) Mr. Hariom Singh Sisodia, Dr. Shriji Seth
Country India
Abstract India’s foreign policy has shifted from a traditional non-alignment approach to pragmatic, issue-based coalitions in response to an evolving global order. This paper examines how India is leveraging flexible partnerships like the International Solar Alliance, Indo-Pacific Oceans Initiative, and various trilateral frameworks to maintain strategic autonomy while enhancing its international influence. It also discusses the opportunities and challenges inherent in this diplomatic strategy, highlighting India's efforts to balance competing interests and shape the future of global governance. Issue-based coalitions emerge as both a necessity and a strategic advantage in India's pursuit of a more assertive global role.
