Abstract | The Northern Sircars, comprising the present coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh and parts of Odisha, hold significant historical importance in both French and British colonial contexts. Their strategic position on the Coromandel Coast made them a valuable asset for trade, military campaigns, and revenue generation. This article explores the French revenue administration in the Northern Sircars during the 18th century, analyzing colonial policies, economic strategies, and their socio-political implications on local governance and society. |
