Challenges in Diagnosing Borderline Personality Disorder in Adolescents

| Abstract | Diagnosing Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) in teenagers is complicated. Adolescence is already a turbulent time emotionally, so it can be hard to tell what’s a normal part of growing up and what signals a more serious issue. This paper looks at the main challenges involved in diagnosing BPD in adolescents—like symptom overlap with other conditions, stigma, and limitations in existing diagnostic tools. It also explores why early diagnosis is important and how we can improve the way we identify and support teens who might be struggling with BPD. |
