Abstract As humanity's interest in returning to the Moon intensifies with programs like NASA's Artemis, the challenge of establishing permanent lunar infrastructure has moved from science fiction to engineering reality. This paper examines current and emerging technologies for lunar construction, focusing on in-situ resource utilization, novel structural designs adapted to lunar conditions, and robotic construction methods. Through analysis of recent mission data, materials science advancements, and engineering simulations, we identify optimal approaches for sustainable lunar habitation. The findings suggest that a combination of 3D printed regolith structures with inflatable modules offers the most promising near-term solution, while sintered basalt construction represents a viable long-term strategy for expansion. We present thermal management solutions and radiation protection approaches specifically tailored to lunar environmental extremes. This work provides a comprehensive framework for engineering lunar habitats that balances practical implementation with long-term sustainability.
