How Self-esteem is related to cognitive distortions in Young Adults using social media

Abstract | Effect of Self-esteem on Cognitive Distortions in Young adults using social media utilizing social media, filling a void in comprehending how self-worth affects dysfunctional thought processes in a digital environment. The data was collected through a questionnaire administered in person, questionnaire which was used consisted of Rosenberg self-esteem scale and cognitive distortions scale which measures self-criticism, self-blame, helplessness, hopelessness and preoccupation with danger, sample consisted of 152 students, choice of sampling was convenience sampling out of which 44 were males and 108 were females, making the sample female dominated sample. Results shows self-esteem significantly affects self- criticism, self-blame, hopelessness, and helplessness but self-esteem doesn’t have a statistically significant effect on preoccupation with danger. |
