Abstract | The Volkswagen XL1 is an ultra-efficient hybrid concept vehicle integrating advanced aerodynamic features, lightweight materials, and a plug-in hybrid drivetrain. This study presents a comprehensive design and simulation approach to reduce drag and improve energy efficiency. Using CFD simulations and aerodynamic modeling, the research evaluates performance improvements driven by active and passive aerodynamic elements, including underbody diffusers, air curtains, and wheelhouse ventilation. The design focuses on maximizing energy conservation, reducing emissions, and achieving superior performance while promoting sustainability and technological innovation in modern automotive design. |
