Author(s) | Ms. Deeksha Sharma, Dr. Kamlesh Rani |

Country | India |
Abstract | Forensic accounting is an emerging field within the accounting domain crucial in identifying and preventing financial crimes. This article explores forensic accounting as a novel branch of accounting focused on fraud detection and prevention, encompassing three key elements: litigation support, expert opinion, and fraud investigation. The study takes a conceptual approach, aiding in understanding fraud-related issues, utilizing the fraud tree framework provided by the Association of Certified Examiners to categorize fraud, and examining the motivations behind engaging in fraudulent activities. Additionally, the article delves into the essential and expanded skills required to be a practical forensic examiner while addressing the challenges impeding the growth of forensic accounting in India. By dissecting these concepts, this research provides a robust knowledge foundation for future investigators to adeptly combat and thwart fraudulent activities, thereby contributing to the progression of the field. |
