| Abstract | Ayurveda,an ancient system of medicine provide a holistic approach to managing Thalassemia minor.It can be correlated with "Pandu Roga" which arises due to an imbalance in pitta vata doshas. The genetic aspect of Thalassemia is recognized as "Beeja Dosha” (hereditary defect), which affects the formation of healthy blood cells.Ayurvedic texts emphasize the role of improper diet and lifestyle and weak digestive fire (Agni) In aggravating anemia and related disorders. This article reviews the pathophysiology,clinical presentation, diagnosis & management of Thalassemia minor with and emphasis of Ayurveda. |
