Author(s) Mr. Utkarsh Jagannath Ahire, Dr. Sudhakar Jagannath Borse
Country India
Abstract Rapid urbanization in both developing and developed nations has led to a sharp rise in vehicular traffic, resulting in increased road accidents, air and noise pollution, and elevated stress on traffic police. This research paper examines the complex challenges of managing urban traffic in growing cities, with a focus on how these challenges affect the duties and health of police personnel. Traffic police are exposed to long hours, extreme weather, and high pollution levels, leading to fatigue, respiratory problems, and mental stress. Through case studies, statistical analysis, and a review of relevant literature, the paper highlights the deteriorating work conditions and health issues faced by traffic enforcement officers. It also explores the institutional limitations and infrastructural gaps in current traffic systems. The study concludes by offering actionable recommendations to enhance urban traffic management, implement supportive policy reforms, and introduce health and wellness measures for the safety and well-being of traffic police personnel.
