Abstract | The integration of accounting software into teaching and learning has been widely endorsed by leading academic scholars, as it facilitates the transition from conventional teaching methods to modern, technology-driven approaches that deliver present and practical accounting knowledge and skills. This evolution is designed to equip accounting graduates with the necessary competencies to thrive in today’s dynamic venture landscape. The integration of accounting software, which enhances computer literacy, plays a crucial role in developing high-quality human capital. Conversely, the failure to produce technologically proficient and multi-skilled graduates may hinder the effectiveness of accounting education systems in preparing forward professional accountants. This study primarily aims to provide an in-depth pedagogical analysis of the potential benefits of incorporating accounting software into the teaching and learning process of introductory accounting. The study argues that accounting software offers an alternative and innovative approach that effectively delivers fundamental accounting concepts while simultaneously enhancing students’ Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skills. |
