Abstract	The paper is an attempt to unravel trauma aspects through theoretical analysis of the woman protagonist Nanda Kaul in Anita Desai's Fire on the Mountain. An effort has been made to understand the complex aftermath of experiencing psychological trauma with the help of Cathy Caruth's trauma theory presented in her work Unclaimed Experience:Trauma , Narratives and History (1996)
