Liver Transplantation in a case of secondary biliary cirrhosis with anti-M antibodies

Abstract | Anti- M is a naturally occurring antibody of the MNS blood group system. This antibody is most reactive at temperatures below 37 ◦C, with an optimum temperature of 4 ◦C and is considered to be clinically insignificant.The antibodies can be of clinical significance causing hemolysis when reactive and hence M antigen negative blood should be transfused.We report the peri-operative management of a case of Liver Transplantation in a patient of secondary biliary cirrhosis with immunoglobulin (Ig)M anti-M antibody. |
