“ESG Integration in Corporate Financial Strategy: Comparative Analysis of Developed vs. Emerging Economies”

Author(s) Dr. Shivshant Marotrao Wasamwar
Country India
Abstract Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors are increasingly shaping corporate financial strategies worldwide. This study presents a comparative analysis of ESG integration between developed (U.S., Germany, Japan) and emerging (India, Brazil, South Africa) economies using secondary data from 2018 to 2023. Findings reveal developed market firms embed ESG into strategic planning and capital decisions, while emerging market firms emphasize compliance and reputation. ESG reporting is more standardized in developed economies. The study contributes to ESG literature by highlighting implementation gaps and recommends regulatory harmonization, ESG capacity building, and financial incentives to strengthen ESG adoption in emerging markets.
