Abstract | Indian short stories have also been developed like other genres with its thematic diversity and quality in a way that it has recently managed to occupy a significant place in world literature. Indian short stories have embraced new themes over the time. They also hold mirror to the society. This paper aims to explore how the changing values during the 20th century, especially at the time of India's independence and in the subsequent context, have manifested in Indian short stories, how people have found their place in various societal issues, and how this has been expressed in short stories. For the purposes seven short soties by different authors have been selected. |
