| Abstract | D. Devaraj Urs Road in Mysuru is one of the city’s most significant commercial arteries, located in proximity to the Mysore Palace and central transit hubs. Despite its strategic importance and cultural context, the street today suffers from traffic congestion, insufficient pedestrian infrastructure, visual disorder, and a lack of environmental resilience. This research reimagines the 900-meter corridor as a pedestrian-oriented, heritage-sensitive boulevard that enhances user experience while restoring the street’s spatial and visual harmony. The proposal is guided by principles of complete street design, ecological urbanism, and cultural continuity. Through multi-layered analysis, including site surveys, spatial mapping, and design synthesis the study identifies opportunities for transforming the street into a climate-responsive, inclusive, and culturally rooted public space. Key interventions include widening footpaths, introducing green buffers, promoting façade harmonization to reflect local heritage, and reallocating vehicular space. The objective is to reposition D. Devaraj Urs Road not merely as a commercial stretch, but as a civic spine that reflects Mysuru’s urban memory and future aspirations. |
