Abstract | The human knee joint is a kind of hinge joint that is a pivotal component of the musculoskeletal system, providing mobility and stability in daily human activity. Mechanical engineering plays a crucial role to make us understand, analyze, and optimize the human knee hinge joint for clinical and prosthetic applications. This article presents a comprehensive overview of the biomechanical structure of the human knee, methods of analysis, and strategies for design optimization. Emphasis is placed on computational modeling, finite element analysis (FEA), and biomimetic design. The goal is to enhance artificial knee joint design and therapeutic interventions for patients with knee disorders or injuries. |
