| Abstract | Mobile devices and applications have become integral to modern life, but they are increasingly targeted by cyber threats due to their widespread use and access to sensitive data. This paper presents a systematic analysis of the predominant categories and characteristics of vulnerabilities in mobile devices and applications, with a focus on comparing Android and iOS platforms. Through a review of existing literature, vulnerability databases, and real-world case studies, we identify key vulnerability types, their root causes, and their impacts on security and privacy. Our findings reveal significant differences in vulnerability trends between Android and iOS, driven by their distinct architectures, development frameworks, and security models. This study provides actionable insights for developers, security researchers, and policymakers to mitigate vulnerabilities and enhance the security of mobile ecosystems |
