Abstract | Metabolic syndrome (MetS), a clustering of cardiovascular risk factors, has been conclusively linked to an increased risk of cardiovascular disease. However, the relationship between MetS and ischemic stroke remains understudied, particularly in the Pakistani context. This project aims to bridge this knowledge gap by examining the association between MetS and ischemic stroke in a Indian population. The study's objectives include estimating the prevalence of MetS among stroke patients, determining the odds ratio of MetS components on ischemic stroke risk, and identifying predictive factors for recurrent stroke in MetS patients. The findings of this study will contribute to a better understanding of the burden of MetS on stroke risk and outcomes in India, informing strategies for early detection, prevention, and management of ischemic stroke in this high-risk population. |
