Abstract The League of Nations was formed after the First World War to maintain peace and prevent future wars. The idea was proposed by U.S. President Woodrow Wilson, who included it in his Fourteen Points plan for peace. The Treaty of Versailles (1919) officially included the plan to create this international organization.
The League was established in 1920, with its headquarters initially in Paris, later moved to Geneva, Switzerland. Though it aimed to promote peace and cooperation among countries, the League failed to prevent the Second World War.
