Abstract | In modern healthcare, the integration of digital technologies has revolutionized how medical images are acquired, stored, managed, and reported. Two cornerstone systems—Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) and Radiology Information System (RIS)—work in tandem to streamline the imaging workflow, reduce errors, improve diagnostic speed, and enhance patient care. This article examines the architecture, functions, benefits, and challenges of PACS and RIS, highlights their interoperability within hospital information ecosystems, and explores future directions for even greater efficiency. |
