Film Viewing as an Approach in Teaching Literature to High School Students: Basis for Instructional Enhancement

Abstract This study examines the effectiveness of using films to teach literature to high school students. Findings revealed that movie-based instruction significantly improved students’ comprehension and critical thinking skills compared to traditional methods. The results support integrating film as a teaching tool in literature classes to enhance learning outcomes, guided by educational theories such as Bandura’s, Krashen’s, and Paivio’s frameworks.
