| Abstract | Schiff’s bases, or imines, are a widely studied class of organic compounds known for their synthetic versatility and broad spectrum of applications in medicinal chemistry, catalysis, and materials science. Derived from the condensation of primary amines with aldehydes or ketones, these compounds exhibit remarkable structural and electronic features that facilitate metal coordination, tautomeric shifts, and diverse chemical transformations. This review highlights classical and green synthetic approaches for Schiff bases, discusses their spectroscopic and structural characteristics, and explores their role in various applications, particularly emphasizing their therapeutic potential and involvement in modern materials. The manuscript concludes with emerging trends, challenges, and prospective directions for future research. |
