| Abstract | Introduction: Middle ear anatomy is a complex topic which is difficult to access in cadaveric dissection and also to interpret from two dimensional studies. Anatomical knowledge of this space is essential for various otological procedures. Didactic teaching alone is insufficient for this purpose. Aim: To prepare a multicoloured wooden middle ear model with six walls for easy understanding of spatial relation of anatomical structures. Material and Methods: A wooden middle ear model with the anatomical structures fixed separately was prepared. The model was having six walls that can be opened to visualize structures related to them. A structured questionnaire based on Likert Scale (1-5) was prepared for student feedback. Results: 85% of students felt that the middle ear model was a perfect tool for visualizing complex anatomy of middle ear in small group teaching and also reduced the time needed for self-directed learning. The study showed active participation of students and provided practical low-cost tool for didactic and small group teaching. Conclusion: The middle ear model has the potential to supplement the teaching of complex anatomical regions like middle ear. |
