Impact of 2-BHK Housing Scheme on Socio-Economic Development - A Study in Nalgonda District of Telangana State

| Abstract | In 2015 the Government of Telangana have implemented the 2-BHK(Two bedrooms, Hall and Kitchen) housing Scheme to develop socio-economic conditions of the poor. The study was based in Devarkonda constituency of Nalgonda district where highest double bed room houses were handed over to the poor. The study used multistage random sampling technique to select the sample. The study revealed that there was positive impact on the socio-economic conditions of poor like the reduced vulnerability to debt trap, hygiene and health conditions, decrease in housing in-equality, increase in economic empowerment, reduced pollution and improved social mobility. The study suggested to prepare policies and implement them for full impact on the socio-economic conditions of the beneficiaries. |
