Role of Women in Science and Technology in India: A Study

Abstract Women’s participation in science and technology (S and T) in India has seen both historical marginalization and recent progress. This research paper explores the evolving role of Indian women in science and technology across time, from ancient contributions to modern-day innovators. It analyses participation patterns, institutional support, socio-cultural barriers, and policy frameworks, while highlighting the achievements of notable women scientists and technologists. The study also evaluates current challenges and suggests strategies to promote gender equity in India’s science and technology landscape.
