Abstract BACKGROUND: According to American academy of Ophthalmology, nearsightedness, or myopia is a vision condition in which people can see the close objects clearly, but objects farther appear blurred. Myopia affects nearly 30% of the US population. OBJECTIVES: To assess the Effectiveness of Planned Teaching Programme on Knowledge regarding prevention of Myopia among High School Children in selected school of Guwahati, Kamrup (M), Assam. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A Quantitative evaluative approach with Pre-Experimental, One-group pre-test-post-test design and Simple Random Sampling Technique was used to select 30 High School Children at Guwahati (Assam), India. A Self- administered structured Knowledge questionnaire was used for assessing the knowledge among the subjects. RESULTS: The study result shows that in post-test mean knowledge score i.e., 17.33 ± 2.64 was higher than pre-test knowledge score 9.43 ± 3.33 with mean difference of 7.9 as evidenced by t=9.29 at 0.05 level of significance which reveals the effectiveness of Planned Teaching Programme on Knowledge regarding prevention of Myopia among High School Children. It also reveals that there was no significant association of pre-test knowledge score on prevention of myopia with Socio-demographic variables. CONCLUSION: The study reveals that Planned Teaching Programme on Prevention of Myopia was effective in improving the knowledge of High School Children on Prevention of Myopia.
