Abstract ABSTRACT
Background - Mallakhamb is considered as “the mother sport of ancient India”. Recently, in 2013 Mallakhamb was declared as the state game of Madhya Pradesh. Mallakhamb is a sport which involves significant lower body engagement along with over-use of pelvic area muscles. Groin pain is common in activities that require sudden moments or physical activities. It is a common injury in sports-related people who indulge in quick acceleration and deceleration, sudden-directional changes that causes the muscle strain in lower limb muscles, that’s why this study has been conducted in order to strengthen the adductor muscle to reduce groin pain and improve the performance ability Mallakhamb practitioners.
Method - An experimental Study performed on 20 Mallakhamb girls in the age group of 8 to 15 years, they were taken by convenience sampling and random allocation, study was designed to 3 weeks. Adductor Muscles strengthening exercise protocol received by each subject 3 times in week and outcome measure is groin pain asses by VAS for pre post treatment effect.
Data analysis- statically analysis was performed using the SPSS (28.0) software data was analyses using t test.
Statistics and Results:
The mean VAS score before the protocol was 4.35 ± 1.04, indicating moderate pain levels. Following the intervention, the mean VAS score significantly reduced to 1.95 ±1.19, reflecting a notable decrease in pain severity. The statistical analysis yielded a t-value of 12.161 with a p-value of 0.000, conferring the reduction in pain was statistically significant.
Conclusion overall, it can be concluded from the study that adductor muscle strengthening protocol is helpful in reducing the pain by improving the muscle strength.
