Abstract This study aimed to determine the level of knowledge of the criminology students in Naga College Foundation Incorporated on Data Privacy Act of 2012, academic year 2023-2024. Further, it intended to determine the level of of the criminology students on Data Privacy Act of 2012 when grouped according to their demographic profile. Furthermore, it determined the significant agreement on the ranks between the respondents’ profile and their level of knowledge on Data Privacy Act of 2012. Descriptive-correlational method was used. Respondents were consisted of 340 students from 1st year to 4th year criminology students of Naga College Foundation, Incorporated. Questionnaire was the only data gathering tool used in this study.
Findings showed that the 3rd year criminology students had the highest level of knowledge on Data Privacy Act along the aspects of Rights of the Data Subject, Sensitive Personal Information, and Unlawful Acts and Penalties, while the 1st year criminology students had the highest level of knowledge on the aspect of Security of Personal Information.
As to the level of knowledge on the Data Privacy Act of the respondents when grouped according to their demographic profile, it revealed that, age, sex, and year level appear to influence knowledge levels slightly, with younger students and females generally performing better.
Further, the results indicate strong agreement (high W-values) across demographic factors regarding knowledge of the Data Privacy Act, with significant correlations for age and year level. Conversely, while sex shows a very high W-value (0.92), its lack of statistical significance suggests that gender has minimal impact on knowledge levels about the Data Privacy Act. Overall, age and year level are critical influencers of awareness, particularly regarding unlawful acts and penalties, whereas gender differences appear less relevant.
