| Abstract | Both physical and psychological distress adversely affect one’s wellbeing. This study is intended to explore the predictors of Generalized anxiety disorder among 15 variables viz., rumination, worry, threat monitoring, metacognitive belief, unhelpful behavior, self-control, somatic symptoms, anxiety and insomnia, social dysfunction, depression, extroversion, agreeableness, Conscientiousness, neuroticism and openness to experience. General anxiety disorder is the common psychological distress in both clinical and general population. Most of the people who suffer GAD are not aware the exact reason about their psychological distress. The sample for this study were collected from the general population of Kerala with in the age range 21 to 40. There were 400 participants participated in this research. The researcher used the characteristics of stratified random sampling as a sampling procedure. The data were collected by using personal information schedule, CAS 5, GAD scale, self control scale, general health scale and five factor personality inventory. Step wise multiple regression was used as statistical technique for finding predictors of GAD among 15 variables under study. The result of regression analysis revealed that 71.2 % of variance of GAD was explained by 7 variables viz., rumination, self-control, worry, neuroticism, social dysfunction, anxiety and insomnia and conscientiousness. |
