Author(s) Ms. Shallu
Country India
Abstract Women play a significant role in our society, and their involvement is essential in a nation’s social, economic, cultural, and political advancement. India is a democratic nation, but it is still grappling with the chains of gender discrimination, which start from birth and remain throughout one's whole life. Women are regarded as inferior to men. Women are often condemned to do household chores, and they have to take care of other family members. They are viewed as a medium for looking after and keeping everyone happy. They lack independence, and they can’t express their feelings or make decisions. They face gender disparity in terms of employment, educational opportunities, etc. News of violations of women's rights can be seen and heard daily. Women's empowerment is very important in this era of globalization. Global debates and studies have examined the subject of women’s empowerment, and according to them, it has increased in the last several years. But still, there is a gap, and it must be ensured that women are taken as a top priority and should be carefully addressed by various stakeholders. Women must be given the authority to fully participate in all facets of life. Women's empowerment is a key priority for VIKSIT BHARAT’S GOAL by 2047. This research paper will discuss the concept of women's empowerment. It will also highlight the major challenges and strengthen ways for women's empowerment in India.
