| Abstract | Environmental pollution is the major concern in recent scenarios globally. People are facing a lot of health problems due to this pollution. Emission of greenhouse gases (GHG) from the transport sector makes this problem more severe. As to resolve issues of emissions from internal combustion (IC) engines, hydrogen fuel cell technology provides us an alternative pathway. In this review we examined Hydrogen Based Fuel Cell Technology and to what extent it helps to reduce burden on nature. Alongside its efficiencies during commercialization in light and heavy-duty vehicles which is a necessary step. To make this approach more competitive, factors such as hydrogen production sources, various fuel stations, hydrogen handling, especially the cost of vehicles needs some attention and is taken under research. Electrolytes, catalysts and various components of fuel cell vehicles can alter the efficiency and properties of fuel cells directly. Furthermore, in this context, to enhance productivity of fuel cells in vehicles various modifications are done to get better results. This paper provides an overview to reduce emissions of GHG and pros and cons of this approach in the automobile sector. |
