Abstract Abstract:
Tribals and their struggles are not a new discourse in the present time. The history of tribal struggles dates back to the emergence of humans on this earth. But anyhow, they accepted the challenges and are still surviving on this earth. The world’s approximately 476 Tribal million Indigenous Peoples are critical Partners in development. As per census 2011 the Scheduled tribe population is 8.6% of the total Population of India. Adivasi nomenclature had been synonymously used, like Aadim jati, Girijan, Vanyajati, Vanvasi, Janajati, and so on. After the independence of India, the Government of India enlisted them as Scheduled Tribes in Article 342 in the Constitution of India as per the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Order, 1950. Later, Scheduled Tribes have been classified as per the recommendation of the development report of U. N. Dhebar in 1961 and Shilu Ao in 1969 as Main Scheduled Tribes and Primitive Tribal Groups within them. A total of 75 are identified as Primitive Tribal Groups (PTG), which later changed their name to Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTG). Here, one of the PVTGs of Jharkhand that was taken for investigation is Sabar, which is also known as Savar, Saora, and Hill Khadia. Government policies, globalization, and the advancement of communication technology have created new challenges among the Sabar tribe. The present study tries to find out how they are facing the challenges of globalization to sustain themselves and highlight their present status. This article was written using conventional anthropological methods, tools, and techniques for primary and secondary data collection.
