Bibliometric Mapping of Research on Electronic Payment Systems in India (1982–2025)

Author(s) Mr. Pradeep Kumar, Dr. Rajendra Singh
Country India
Abstract The paper traces the evolution of electronic payment systems (EPS) in India from a cash-dependent economy to one driven by digital innovation and financial inclusion. It analyses key technological milestones, policy initiatives, and the impact of emerging technologies such as UPI, mobile wallets, and blockchain. Through bibliometric and trend analysis, the study evaluates academic production, influential publications, author productivity, and collaboration networks in the EPS domain, revealing patterns of growth, concentration of influence, and persistent research gaps. Researchers used 2619 research paper database of Scopus from 1982 to 2025. The findings demonstrate that India’s EPS landscape is shaped by government intervention, technological innovation, and a focus on financial inclusion.
