The Rise of ‘Productivity Slavery’: How We Turned Rest into a Sin — A Satirical Inquiry into the Tyranny of Hustle Culture

Author(s) Ms. Charulata .
Country India
Abstract In the modern age, the glorification of non-stop work has led to the demonization of rest, transforming leisure into guilt and burnout into a status symbol. This satirical paper introduces the concept of “Productivity Slavery” to critique hustle culture, digital labor, and the commodification of well-being. Using irony, parody, and exaggerated dystopian scenarios, it exposes how rest has been criminalized by cultural norms and monetized by wellness capitalism. The work ultimately argues for a radical shift: to reclaim idleness as a human right and weaponize rest against exploitative systems.
