| Abstract | Abstract This article explores into the transformative role of education in shaping India’s journey toward Viksit Bharat@2047. It highlights how the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 provides a forward-looking framework to achieve sustainable, inclusive, and innovation-driven development. The discussion underscores education as the cornerstone of nation-building, linking human capital formation with economic growth, social justice, and environmental stewardship. Key features of NEP 2020—such as holistic and multidisciplinary learning, vocational integration, digital infrastructure, and research promotion—are presented as enablers of a knowledge-based economy. The article also evaluates implementation challenges, including funding constraints, digital divides, and teacher shortages, while offering strategic recommendations for policy continuity, capacity building, and governance reforms. By aligning with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, especially SDG 4, the article positions education as the central instrument for achieving equity, innovation, and sustainability. Ultimately, it argues that a strong, inclusive education system is vital for India’s transformation into a developed nation by 2047. |
