Abstract The relationship between student mental health and academic performance has gained increasing scholarly and institutional attention in recent years. Mental health interventions such as mindfulness practices, structured peer mentoring, and professional counseling are now recognized as crucial supports within higher education. This paper reviews the role of these approaches, synthesizing insights from existing research while contextualizing their relevance for teacher education institutions. By focusing on secondary literature, the discussion highlights how interventions strengthen emotional resilience, improve focus, and enhance overall academic outcomes. The paper also situates these interventions within the broader vision of Mata Sundri Girls College of Education, Dhade, Bathinda, which remains committed to fostering the holistic growth of female teacher trainees in Punjab.
